He would take his tea with lemon every evening. I would watch as he poured the remnants and seeds down the drain. Some time after he left, I saw a green speck hiding under the drain one day. It grew taller every day. I pulled the sprout out of the sink and saw a lemon seed at the bottom of it. How it grew there, I don’t know. I took a picture and sent it to him. “When life gives you lemons…” he replied. I planted it in one of the flower pots he had left behind. He was right. When life gives you lemon seeds, plant a lemon tree.

It was a picture of a stalk with a lemon seed on the bottom. He told me it had grown up from the sink. “When life gives you lemon seeds, plant a lemon tree.” I replied. He planted it in one of the flower pots I had left behind. I wonder how it has grown and if it is still around.
